This Poem represents so much of what I see in people when I work with them and their goals.  Read it for yourself.  Put it where you can see it every day.  Sure times are difficult around the world, never underestimate the power of the human spirit.

I Do Not Choose To Be A Common Man
By American Statesman Dean Alfange  Born December 2nd ,  1899

I Do Not Choose To Be A Common Man

It is my right to be uncommon—if I can.

I seek opportunity—not security.  I do not wish to be a kept citizen, humbled and dulled by having the state look after me.

I want to take the calculated risk; to dream and to build, to fail and to succeed.

I refuse to barter incentive for a dole.  I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence; the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia.

I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout.  I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat.

It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act for myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldly and say,  “This I have done.”

So what is it you are doing for yourself today?  I choose each day not to be common.  Common is obesity, common is struggling for satisfaction instead of living and moving towards it.  Will I fail?  Yes at times I will.  Those are the learning times.  Those are the strengthening times.  Those are the times when I find out what I am made of and what I need to work on.  Sometimes those are the times to just listen within and be at peace to know I have done my best for that day and rest in it.

Joy is strength!  Peace is Power.  Choose today to be Uncommon!

So with focus and taking time I look around me and there are many was to slow down on life. There are the ways that refresh and renew and there are ways that stop us from achieving the abundance in life we were meant to live.

As I took to the time to renew and refresh this morning I heard a podcast during my workout (yeah funny me calling a workout renewing), and it talked about having clutter in your life. Now I have been a stacker all my life, it makes my wife nuts. I came back and looked at my desk and realized it is time to make the next level of changes in my life.

See the clutter of my desk keeps me from being as efficient as I would like to be. With project working with health care professionals, and next on the agenda to get a program into schools I knew that things must change.

You see clutter in your physical world can cause clutter in your mental and spiritual well being. It reflects how you work, think and live. I keep good records for my clients and know their needs when it comes to support. However being clear in mind, spirit and office will make me even better. I will be able to put my hands on the things I need. I will think more clearly when my surroundings are clear, my mind will be clear.

One more “weight” to shed and a lifestyle to change. One more way to be more effective in helping others. One more way to do well what I was destined to do.

What can you do today to get on track and remove the “clutter” in your surroundings?

Amazing Grace

Be inspired this Sunday morning. First a Tweet on a link to Amazing Grace by Leann Rimes  that reminds me how grateful I am for the life changes this year. Then I am reminded that abundance follows those who serve others.

Today I want to encourage you to take some time and reflect on where you are right now. Are you happy with all aspects of your life? This includes the areas of spirit, physical, health, and finances/abundance. In today’s economy that is a pretty tall order to be completely happy in all those areas. So take a look, take time to see how each of those areas feel in your life. Write down what comes up and make a list in each area.

After you have made the list, pick the top five from each area and write those down on a separate list. These would be the areas that are most important for you to focus on for the next year. Once you have made the list, put it up somewhere where you will see it several times a day. I often encourage my weight loss clients to put the weight goals on their refrigerator so they will see them each time they reach for the handle.

Focus and renew yourself daily in each one of those areas and I promise you that great things are in store for this next year. May you be blessed more and abundantly to live the live you choose for yourself this year. Remember change is a journey taken one day at a time!
